Fred Betz Honored as ASHRAE Fellow Posted on February 21, 2018January 5, 2021 by Kelly Blake Fred Betz, Mechanical Engineer for PEDCO since 2003 was awarded the distinguished honor of ASHRAE Fellow. Fred has been a member of ASHRAE since 1984 and his appointment as Fellow is proof he is seen by his industry peers as a person of excellence. Requirements for such a prestigious award require the honoree to have contributions with a substantial impact on the HVAC&R industry. Fred’s body of work includes chilled water systems for major universities, utility system serving a major chilled beam installation, and design of a gas turbine powered generator for a manufacturing facility. As a member of ASHRAE Fred has served in a multitude of leadership roles including Cincinnati Chapter President, Society Board of Directors as Regional Chair, as well as being an active member of various Society level and Regional committees. Esteemed as an expert by his peers, Betz has been asked to lecture periodically at Society Seminars. Due to his influential contributions, Betz was awarded both the Distinguished and Exceptional Service Awards from ASHRAE Society. Fred has been responsible for the design and specification of various types of utility, HVAC, plumbing and fire protection systems for commercial, industrial and institutional facilities. He possesses a depth of experience in designing healthcare facility utility systems for new Greenfield facilities, as well as system renovations and upgrades. Additionally, Mr. Betz’s displays a depth of experience in energy conservation including both study and design type of projects. He is a Certified Energy Manager (CEM) and served on the ASHRAE Board of Directors during the period in which ASHRAE’s Building Energy Labeling program was proposed and implemented.
